Our baby Oliver,

Where do I start? It has been almost 2 years and I still reach down to scratch you (the spot behind your ears was always the softest), still take out your food dish, and still have “coffee with cats” every morning, except you are not there. You were so much more than “just a cat” to us, you were our “sun” that brought light to our lives and made our little family complete, our Verde, our world. You got me through the hardest days when I did not have the strength to get out of bed in the morning. I could have the worst day, and seeing you just made things right in the world. My light is now gone, and I miss you more than words can express. There is a hole in my heart and soul that will not be filled until I get to see your face at the Rainbow Bridge. You were the gentlest soul, allowing your fellow rat and GP brothers to ride on your back.

No one prepares you for the loss of an animal and how it shatters your world in an instant. You were SO loved Oli. You were always there during my struggles, to pick me up and make me smile with one of your crazy antics, or those “meows”, that I knew exactly what you meant. When you got sick, I feel mom let you down, with the decision that had to be made. I was not ready, but you let me know when it was time. I hope you forgive me for setting you free. I know your brothers are up there with you and welcomed you home to your new surroundings. Whitefish better be in abundance for you!

Mom and Dad miss you so much, Oli. Forever would not have been enough time with you. I promise, I will be “home” soon, and I am sure you will be waiting at the door to tell me all about your day. Until then we have Sal, to keep us busy, who I know sees you. Thank you for visiting us.

“Every memory that’s bleeding through, they all just seem to lead me back to you.”

Love, Mom, Dad and Salamanca
